Drives & motor technologies in textiles

Controlling has become more and more accurate along with high ergonomics with the help of software incorporated solutions. Motors needs robust construction to withstand several extreme conditions and it should be able to develop torque in a short time, should possess wide speed variation capability and quick response change capability.

There is a growing demand for special types of drives to
enhance productivity and performance of textile mills hence the processes will
augment growth in the textile mill electric drives market. An electric drive
can be defined as an electromechanical device for converting electrical energy
into mechanical energy to impart motion to different machines and mechanisms
for various kinds of process control. Textile mill electric drives help in
controlling the speed of rotation of an electrical machine, which will be
helping in optimising the motion control.

Therefore, assembly of an electric motor with sophisticated
control systems which controls the rotation of the motor shaft is the typical
drive system used in the textile mill electric drives market. Controlling has
become more and more accurate along with high ergonomics with the help of
software incorporated solutions. The motor needs robust construction to
withstand several extreme conditions and it should be able to develop torque in
a short time, should possess wide speed variation capability and quick response
change capability. It has to be s
pecially designed to cater wide range
of torque characteristics during
starting, running, reversing and stopping
of textile machinery
. All of these factors will affect the global textile mill
electric drives market. The two major factors which influence the textile mill
electric drives is ease of maintenance and low cost. Other factors include less
machine stop time, high quality and productivity.

Textile
mill electric drives market

Textile
mills majorly focus on energy-efficient products along with low maintenance
devices to enhance their productivity. China, being the top producer and
exporter of raw textiles and garments, is expected to install electric drives
to meet the global demand to cater to the growing awareness amongst customers
and thus, will witness substantial growth in the textile mill electric drives
market during the forecast period. Significant growth in investments in the
textile industry and use of energy-efficient products to enhance output in countries,
such as Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Latin American countries, may further augment
the global textile mill electric drives market during the forecast period.
Europe is estimated to account for around one-fifth of the textile market
around the globe and due to growing awareness about the benefits of electric drives;
the region is estimated to employ these electric drives across their textile
mills.

Advanced motors and technologies

Carding Motor

The carding
process in textile
industry requires high starting torque and a long starting period. Card motors have been specially designed
to meet these requirements
and are available as shown in the rating
chart.
These motors are foot / flat base
mounting type.

Ring Frame Motor

The most essential requirement of Ring Frame Drive
 is
smooth acceleration which will help in minimising the
breakage of yarn and at the same time maintaining the yarn tension at desirable level. Ring frame
motors are designed to meet
these requirements. Ring
frame motors
are totally enclosed fan-cooled type. Fan
shelter
is specially designed
to minimize the blockage due  to cotton fluff and to ensure proper
cooling of the motor.
Terminal box
is provided either on LHS or RHS
looking from shaft end as per customer’s requirement. Motors with terminal box on top can also be supplied against specific requirement in case of spinning
frame narrow
width having limited
space.

These motors are available
in output ratings
as shown in the Rating Chart
in the synchronous speed of 1500 RPM.
