Dr G Ramakrishnan receives prestigious award

Dr G Ramakrishnan, Senior Associate Professor, Department of Fashion Technology has been awarded Dr Radhakrishnan Award for the year 2015-2016 on the eve of ‘Teachers Day’ celebrations held at Kumaraguru College of Technology on September 3, 2016.

Dr G Ramakrishnan has more than 30 years of experience that includes 12 years in industry and 18 years in academics. He was the recipient of Gold Medal for securing First Rank in Anna University PG Degree Examinations in 2004. In 2010, he completed his Doctoral degree (Ph D in Textile Technology) from Anna University, Chennai.

He has published 38 papers in international peer-reviewed journals like Journal of Industrial Textiles, International Journal of Thermo Physics, Journal of Industrial Textiles, Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, etc. and 25 papers in national journals.

He has co-authored an international monograph, Textile Progress, published by the Textile Institute, UK and a book on Control Systems in Textile Machines.

Dr G Ramakrishnan has presented more than 45 papers in national/international conferences.

As a Joint Organising Secretary, he has organised two international textile conferences jointly with the Texas Tech University, USA, and has coordinated more than 30 seminars, workshops and conferences.

He has coordinated to set up the prestigious TIFAC Center of Relevance and Excellence project in Textile Technology and Machinery, the first-of-its-kind in India, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in KCT campus. Presently the centre is carrying out Product Development, Testing and Consultancy for Textile and Apparel Industries besides organising need-based FDP, seminar and workshops with the facility established under TIFAC CORE.

He is Principal Investigator of the DST-SEED project titled “Enhancing Livelihood of Handloom Weavers through Technology upgradation and Training in Samathur Block, Pollachi in Tamil Nadu” and got Rs 15 lakh for carrying out the project.
