Gujarat, through its focused policy on textile industry, will emerge as the country´s textile hub in the next five years offering business and employment opportunity, Saurabh Patel State Finance Minister said.

With the product label ¨Made in Green by OEKO-TEX-¨, the Switzerland-based OEKO-TEX Association presents a new certification for textiles proven to be safe in terms of human ecology and that are additionally produced in a sustainable and socially responsible manner. The label replaces the previous certification system OEKO-TEX Standard 100plus and the Spanish mark ¨Made in Green by Aitex.

BASF India Limited has inaugurated its large-scale chemical production complex at Dahej, Gujarat. With a project cost of Rs 1,000 crore, the site represents BASF´s single largest investment in India. The site was jointly inaugurated by Anandiben Patel, Hon´ble Chief Minister of Gujarat; Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon´ble Minister for Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Government of Gujarat and Michael Heinz.

Asian countries, particularly China and India, should boost their cotton consumption. Jose Sette, executive director of Washington, DC-based International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) speaking in Mumbai at the 8th Asian Textile Conference stated that although increasing cotton yield per hectare is important in India, China and India should focus on increasing its per capita cotton consumption.

Rahul Mehta, President, The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India, has been elected as the New President of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) for 2014-2016 at the General Assembly of the IAF held on 29 September 2014 in Medellin, Colombia, during the 30th World Fashion Convention.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his maiden visit to United States as the Prime Minister of India touted his government´s ambitious plan of ´Make in India´. ´Make in India´ will support and grow the textile industry and world trade between India and other countries. Good governance and low cost of manufacturing are the keys to attract investments in India, said Modi.
