Cambodia

Cambodia’s
garment exports reported marginal increase of 0.9% in the first half of 2021,
i.e. Jan-June 2021. The country exported non-garment products including
bicycle, electronic parts,
vehicle spare parts, decorative light bulbs, plywood, etc. of approximately $1.9 billion to
foreign markets in the first six months of 2021.
There has been an increase of $632.5
million or about 50% compared to the same period last year. This is according
to a press release of the General Department of Customs and Excise at the
Ministry of Economy and Finance after the virtual review meeting chaired by its
Director General Kun Nhim.

The
growth of non-garment exports reflects the good outcome of the Royal
Government’s policy in industrial diversification.

During
the six-month period, the export of garment products was valued at $4.72
billion, up by 0.9%, and that of agricultural products – rice, rubber, cassava,
cashew nuts, corn, fresh banana, mangoes, etc. by more than 64% to $1.58
billion.

Last
year, Cambodia shipped $17 billion worth of goods, a year-on-year increase of
16.72%, while the imports declined by 7% to $18 billion from $20 billion in
2019.
