Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has requested the
Commerce Ministry to simplify export procedures so that the apparel sector can
tackle the challenges posed by the pandemic. The meeting was held recently with
Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh. Faruque Hassan, Miran Ali, President and
Vice-President of BGMEA respectively, and Mohammad Hatem Vice President,
Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) were also a
part of the meeting.
According to
Faruque Hassan, the garment factories are struggling to survive and
are unable to come out of the losses and shocks that happened due to the
Covid-19 pandemic. He said if the export procedures are simplified, then the
industry will be able to revive.
Tapan Kanti
Ghosh considered the plea and agreed on coming up with ways to simplify export
producers and take necessary actions.
