The collaboration will help cotton textile manufacturers and exporters access exporter awareness, seller enablement and capacity-building initiatives to expand globally.

Amazon India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) to accelerate ecommerce exports from India’s cotton textile sector. The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi. The collaboration aims to help cotton textile manufacturers, exporters, TEXPROCIL members build global businesses through Amazon Global Selling by strengthening exporter readiness and expanding access to international markets.

Cotton, often referred to as India’s “White Gold” for its contribution to livelihoods, manufacturing and exports, supports millions of farmers and thousands of textile manufacturers across the country. India is also one of the world’s leading suppliers of home textiles, with categories such as bedding, bath linen, kitchen linen and home furnishings witnessing strong global demand. As part of the MoU, Amazon India and TEXPROCIL will jointly deliver a structured awareness and seller enablement programme to help cotton textile exporters build and scale their businesses internationally. The programme will equip exporters with the knowledge and tools to understand global demand, navigate cross-border trade, and leverage Amazon’s international marketplaces to reach customers worldwide.

Talking about this engagement, Dr Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, said, “India’s cotton textile industry is globally recognized for its quality, craftsmanship and manufacturing capabilities. Ecommerce exports are rapidly emerging as one of the most significant growth opportunities for Indian textile businesses, enabling manufacturers to reach customers directly, diversify beyond traditional export channels and build global brands. We are already seeing an increasing number of Indian home textile and apparel brands successfully expand their international presence through ecommerce. Through this collaboration with Amazon Global Selling, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge, tools and ecosystem support needed to capitalize on this opportunity and accelerate their growth in international markets.”

Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head, Amazon Global Selling, India, said, “India’s textile industry has long been one of the country’s strongest export sectors, with manufacturers producing world-class products that are sought after by customers around the world. Categories such as bedding, bath and home furnishings continue to see strong demand across Amazon’s international marketplaces, creating significant opportunities for Indian exporters to reach global customers. Through our collaboration with TEXPROCIL, we aim to help more cotton textile exporters harness ecommerce exports to build global brands and grow internationally. As global demand grows for quality, authenticity and traceability—we see a significant opportunity for Brand India to further strengthen its position as a trusted source of high-quality, premium textile products. This collaboration is another step towards our goal of enabling $80 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports from India by 2030.”

The collaboration will include online and offline awareness sessions, workshops and ongoing guidance to support exporters at every stage of their ecommerce journey. It will also feature training for nominated TEXPROCIL representatives, educational resources on cross-border ecommerce, and the creation of offline seller communities to foster peer learning and long-term growth.

Under the MoU, TEXPROCIL will identify high-potential exporters, facilitate connections between manufacturers and prospective sellers to strengthen supply networks, and extend Amazon Global Selling educational resources through its communication platforms. They will also evaluate opportunities for central and state policy support to accelerate ecommerce exports from India’s cotton textile sector, with Amazon providing industry insights. Together, these efforts aim to help more Indian cotton textile businesses reach customers worldwide while strengthening India’s position as a leading textile exporting nation.

India’s textile sector continues to demonstrate resilience despite global headwinds. Total textile exports, including handicrafts, grew 2.1 per cent in FY 2025–26, increasing from Rs 3.10 trillion to Rs 3.16 trillion, reflecting steady global demand and the sector’s continued competitiveness. Representing around 2,000 companies across India’s major textile clusters, TEXPROCIL plays an important role in promoting India’s cotton textile exports. Together, Amazon India and TEXPROCIL aim to help more cotton textile businesses showcase premium, traceable products to customers around the world through ecommerce.
