A leadership interaction rooted in resilience and vision.

Manjit Singh Saini, CEO, recently met Mr. Ram Chandra Agarwal, Founder of V2 Retail Ltd., in an interaction that highlighted the enduring power of resilience, clarity of vision, and the courage to persist against all odds. The meeting served as a powerful reminder of how personal conviction and perseverance can shape transformative leadership journeys in Indian retail.

Agarwal’s life story is widely regarded as a masterclass in overcoming adversity. Struck by polio during his teenage years and raised in extremely difficult circumstances, he encountered challenges early in life. However, rather than allowing these limitations to define his future, he channelled them into an unyielding drive to succeed. His entrepreneurial journey began modestly, with a small photocopy shop, before evolving into the creation of two of India’s most iconic retail brands.

Despite facing major setbacks over the years, Agarwal chose resilience over retreat. Each challenge became an opportunity to restart with renewed determination, reinforcing the belief that perseverance, when sustained, can reshape outcomes. His journey from constrained beginnings to building a ₹5,600-crore retail enterprise stands as a testament to disciplined execution, long-term vision, and unwavering entrepreneurial spirit.

Speaking after the meeting, Manjit Singh Saini reflected on the inspiration drawn from Agarwal’s clarity of thought, conviction, and humility. The interaction at V2 Retail’s corporate office offered a closer look at the mindset that continues to drive the company’s growth and relevance in India’s competitive value retail segment.

Agarwal’s energy and focus remain undiminished, even after decades in business. His ability to repeatedly turn adversity into opportunity continues to inspire business leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs alike, underscoring that true resilience is not just about enduring challenges, but about rising stronger with each one.
