This initiative is intended to reduce the dependency on raw materials from other states or China.

The Yogi Adityanath government has announced plans to establish 11 private textile parks across Uttar Pradesh, with the first park set to be developed in Shamli district with an investment of Rs 7.26 billion.

This initiative is intended to reduce the dependency on raw materials from other states or China.

Of the 11 proposed parks, six are planned for Gorakhpur, Mau, Bhadohi, Aligarh, Baghpat, and Shamli.

Alok Kumar, the principal secretary of Handloom and Textiles, noted that the establishment of these 11 private textile parks will strengthen local production and lessen reliance on China for raw materials.

He further mentioned that a PM Mitra Park will also be developed in Lucknow, covering 1,000 acre.

Under the Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy-2022, the Government Approval Committee, chaired by Kumar, has granted in-principle approval to Lonex Textile Park to establish the Shamli park.

The investor plans to develop essential infrastructure at an estimated cost of Rs 1.26 billion.

The park is expected to be operational by December next year, with a total investment of Rs 6 billion, and is projected to create approximately 5,000 jobs, both direct and indirect.

The proposed textile park will cover 26.75 acre in Jhinjhana village, Kairana tehsil of Shamli district, with 17 production units, including facilities for weaving, dyeing, printing, and garmenting.

It will include essential amenities such as an administrative building, a bank/ATM, a training and testing centre, a rest house, a canteen, and a first aid centre.

Additionally, it will implement a zero liquid discharge system, a combined effluent treatment plant (CETP), and support infrastructure including a boiler, water and steam distribution systems, power distribution systems, and a weighbridge.
