E-commerce retailer Amazon India has witnessed increase in demand for yoga fashion merchandise from across the country. Around 40 per cent demand for yoga products is from urban cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. There has been a growth of over 225 per cent year-on-year for yoga products under the sports category at Amazon India.
Tier I, II and III cities account for the other 60 per cent demand while 80 per cent demand is for yoga mats, said Kaveesh Chawla, Director, Category Management, Amazon India, according to media reports. Remote areas such as Dimapur Mdg, Kohima and North Thingdawl are also placing orders for yoga mats.
In 2016, the sportswear segment of Amazon Fashion had seen a growth of around 150 per cent. Here, 40 per cent orders were from metros, with 30 per cent from Tier II cities and the remaining from Tier III cities.
“Customers today are more fitness conscious and are adopting yoga in daily life. We are excited by the growing interest in yoga products across the country and are constantly striving to add new selection to meet all of yoga and fitness product needs under one roof,” Chawla added.
