Incorporated in 1974, Lakshmi Ring Travellers (Coimbatore) Limited (LRT) is a market leader globally in ring travellers and catering to the requirements of more than 4,500 spinning mills in over 40 countries. While speaking during an exclusive interaction with the ITJ, JM Balaji, Head – Marketing, LRT, says, “Being the global market leader in this business, LRT has been consistently growing in the global market year on year. Main reason for LRT’s success is the product performance, quick deliveries and excellent after sales service.”

How has your company been doing in the last few years — in terms of new product and technology launches?

Sapphire Plus was launched this year and has got a phenomenal response in the market. This product is best for compact and in places where the customer wants to increase the life over Sapphire. The life of Sapphire plus is significantly more than present Sapphire Travellers and also the settling time after traveller change is much quicker in Sapphire Plus. Hence the customer gets better productivity with this finish of travellers.

Can you give us the USP of some of your important machines and products for the textile industry? How has been market that you have been serving doing in the past and currently?

Being the global market leader in this business, LRT has been consistently growing in the global market year on year. Main reason for LRT’s success is the product performance, quick deliveries and excellent after sales service. Another USP has been the value the customers get by using our product, which is significantly higher than our competitors. LRT is probably the only company in this field, which had a huge team of application engineers who visit the customers to solve their problems and also guide them to increase the productivity and improve the yarn quality. This is a complimentary service offered to customers.

If in export, which are your major markets? What is the scope in these markets in the near future?

LRT’s product is now exported to over 40 countries and used in over 60 million spindles worldwide. In most of these markets LRT is the market leader. Our main focus in now the Chinese market where we feel have still more marker potential as this is a very big market.

In other markets like Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and South America markets we are further consolidating our market share and we have double digit growth in these markets.

Are you planning any new launches, including expansion and diversification? Please give some details.

Yes we have further launches planned in the coming months. Our R&D is working on the same and you can expect some during India-ITME and others in the next year. We had increased our capacity recently by adding the third manufacturing plant and this will help us in providing quicker deliveries and also cater to growing market share of LRT.

What are your views on the recent Government’s proposals to boost the textile and clothing industry? What is your vision of textile industry by 2020?

The future of Indian textile industry is very bright. India is the spinning capital of the world where we produce a wide range of counts from Ne 2s to Ne 300s in various raw materials and very high spindle speeds. Indian spinning industry is known for high productivity and good yarn quality.
