Twin lecture report of SDC EC´s colour event

The Society of Dyers and Colourists, India (SDC EC) along with B.D. Somani, successfully organized its 5th Colour event of the year 2014 on September 22, 2014. This event was well attended by more than 140 students, faculties, Heads of the Department and principals from various institutes like NIFT, Mumbai; SOFT, Pune; M S University, Baroda; B.D. Somani, Mumbai; Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai; etc. SDC EC members and trustees were also present for the event.

At the beginning of the event, Reema Varade, Supervisor, B.D. Somani, presented about B.D. Somani and its forthcoming Fashion Show in Surat on 11 October, 2014. This was followed by SDC presentation and its future activities, which was presented by VR Sai Ganesh, Hon Chairman, Mumbai Chapter, SDC EC.

Dr SY Kamat, who works for KITL as Vice President (Industrial products and solutions), presented on ´The design is dead: Long live the Designer (Digital Printing)´. Dr Kamat spoke on latest innovation in pigment printing, including improvement in the handle of the fabric, methods of textile printing and latest innovation in digital printing in areas of printing speed, saving of resources and various terminologies used by digital printers. He showed samples with various effects like water co-lours, tones, fine tones, fine lines and miniatures, converting hand printing, graphics, digital effect, photography, etc.
