There should be a
separate export policy for Tamil Nadu, according to A. Sakthivel, Chairman,
Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and Federation of Indian Export
Organisations.

According to M.K. Stalin, Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu accounted for 10 % of total exports
from India. It was said that the state should have a separate export policy and
should also form an Export Promotion Board in order to boost the exports of the
state. It was also said that the state should maximize the production of
synthetic fibre garments to run business throughout the year.

The government of India has come up with a scheme named MITRA, Mega
Investment Textiles Parks under which Tamil Nadu can set up parks for synthetic
garments, textile machinery, and garment accessories.
