Textile ministry to obtain Cabinet nod for MITRA

An approval from
the Union Cabinet needs to be obtained by the Textile Ministry for the proposed
Mega Investment Textiles Parks (MITRA) scheme.
Under this scheme, seven parks will be set up in the country over
the next three years. According to Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for
Textiles, this scheme has been announced in the Union budget 2021-22. She has
also mentioned that the ministry of textiles also wants the approval of the
cabinet for the proposed scheme. The details of location and government funding
structure will be disclosed once the approval is sanctioned.
Jardosh also said that in the cotton growing states, CCI has opened more than
450 procurement centres. Under MSP operations, CCI has continued its
procurement of cotton as the season started in order to avoid the eventuality
of distress sales by farmers. CCI has been able to procure 91.89 lakh bales
till now, she added. A total amount of Rs 267 billion has been disbursed to
around 19 Lakh cotton farmers, she mentioned.
