The Moroccan
textile and apparel industry association AMITH joined ITMF (International
Textile Manufacturers Federation) in May 2021. ITMF was founded in 1904 and is
the international forum of the global textile value chain.

The members of
ITMF are from textile and apparel production countries. These countries
contribute to around 90% of global production.

According to
Christian Schindler, Director General, ITMF, the joining of AMITH with ITMF is
a win-win situation for the industry. North Africa’s player in textile and
apparel industry will use an international network and platform. AMITH’s
perspective and input can also benefit the industry.

AMITH, the
representative of the textile and apparel value chain of Morocco, comprises around 1200 companies that
have 195,000 persons. The industry exported goods valuing around $ 4.2 billion.

The association
of AMITH with ITMF will provide its members unique access to a platform of the
global textile value chain, says Fatima-Zohra Alaoui, General Manager, AMITH.
She also feels that the world is getting integrated; hence, it is important to
cooperate with the value chain and understand its complexity.
