150 students awarded at NITRA convocation

NITRA’s 14th Convocation Ceremony was held recently at NITRA, Ghaziabad in presence of Sanjay Kumar Jain, Chairman, NITRA and Managing Director, TT Ltd. Also present were Dr Arindam Basu, Director General NITRA, Abhijit Pal, Officiating Director, and other faculty members. A total of 150 students were awarded certificates and medals in the convocation. Two useful instruments Electronic Drape Meter and Fabric Smoothness Tester, developed by the scientists of NITRA, were also inaugurated during this program.

Dr Arindam Basu, Director General mentioned that today NITRA is offering many industry oriented programs on regular and distance learning modes, covering areas such as garment manufacturing, designing, merchandising, and quality assurance. He informed that at present NITRA has 2,600 pass outs working in more than 100 renowned apparel /textiles exports companies.

Sanjay Jain, Chairman, while delivering the Convocation Address opined that the availability of skilled manpower for textile and garment industry is quite inadequate hence the training programs offered by NITRA are very useful for the industry. Apart from imparting quality training, he also praised NITRA’s excellent placement record. The Chairman also advised the young students to be a hard worker and a quick learner. He opined that if someone works extra, it is not only the company that benefits but the value added to t he employee’s skill remains forever. Sh. Jain encouraged the students to think out of the box and work in innovative ways.

Abhijit Pal, Officiating Director, proposed a formal vote of thanks.
