Workshop on WOVEN CAD

KCT-TIFAC CORE in Textile Technology & Machinery of Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore jointly with Department of Fashion Technology organised a workshop on "WOVEN CAD" recently at Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, exclusively for the benefit of students from textile/fashion/apparel institutions, technicians working in weaving industry, designers working in apparel industries. About 30 participants from various academic institutions participated in the workshop.

The participants were taught on various fundamental aspects of WOVEN CAD dobby and jacquard designs using wonder weaves software installed at KCT-TIFAC CORE advanced research centre for Textile Technology and Machinery, a project under Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. The participants were trained by S Sathyaraj, Trainer from C-Cube Technologies. The Chief Guest of the inaugural programme was C Palanisamy, President, Tamilnadu Powerloom Owners Association for Coimbatore and Tirupur Districts. In his address, he stressed the importance of training in advanced WOVEN DESIGN, for the apparel industry needs creative designers who will be playing a key role in promoting the marketing/sale of products in the apparel industry as consumers quite often need different designs as fashion changes very fast.

Chief guest also told the students about the various difficulties faced by the powerloom industry and also on the need for more Government schemes to support for the survival of this old industry. He also appreciated the efforts of KCT-TIFAC CORE for organising such a need based skill development programme. Kumarasamy, Secretary, Tamilnadu Powerloom Owners Association also spoke on the Occasion. J Srinivasan, Professor & Head, Department of Fashion Technology, gave a warm welcome and delivered the presidential address. G Ramakrishnan, Co-ordinator, KCT-TIFAC CORE gave a brief talk on facilities established at KCT-TIFAC CORE for benefit of textile industry and read the message given by Principal, KCT R S Kumar. Trainer from C-cube Technologies R Sathyaraj highlighted about the course and K Gopinath, SSO, TIFAC CORE gave a vote of thanks. Certificates were distributed to all the participants of the workshop.
