Excerpts…
Karthik Muthuveeran (KM): Since the formation of company in 1907, Schoch Reeds has been able to compete in an evolving global market. Please share some information on how the company has evolved over the years?
Bhushan Dhavate (BD):
Schoch Reeds is an Italian company, established in 1907 by Alfredo Schoch, who moved from Switzerland to Italy to open a plant for the production of weaving reeds. For the past 110 years, Schoch Company has a vast experience of manufacturing weaving reeds for all types of textile machinery. Looking at the current opportunity and demand of quality reeds in India for high speed machines, Matteo Schoch, Chairman of Schoch Reeds grabbed the opportunity and went into a joint venture with Gruppo Tessile Monti Spa, a leading shirting manufacturer, which offers the complete range of reeds for rapier, projectile looms, profile reed for airjet looms, water jet reeds, reeds for technical textiles, terry reeds, sizing reeds and warping reeds.

In this successful venture, Devendra Bamb, General Manager of Schoch Reeds India, led the way forward in setting up the operational production activities of the company in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The production facilities are equally compatible like our Italy plant with fully trained skilled labour from Italy. The plant and machinery are designed with international standard to meet the quality level same as Schoch Italy.

KM: Scoch Reeds manufactures a wide range of reeds for weaving machines. What makes these product different from that of the competitors?
BD:
We manufacture a wide range of reeds for weaving machines for shuttle looms, high speed rapier machines, airjet machines and waterjet machines. Apart from reeds for weaving machines, we also manufacture reeds for preparatory machines like warping and sizing. Our company also manufactures special reeds, which are required for needle looms, bolting fabrics, technical textile, etc. For the moment special reeds are imported from Italy and other we make in India.

Below are the few positive points as compared to other reed manufacturers:
Quality:
The products that we manufacture are equally compared to European and Japanese level quality. In short the quality level is of international standards since all raw material imported from Italy and assembled in India
Price factor: We are very competitive in terms of pricing as compared to other imported reeds
Aftersales service: Schoch Reeds is the only company in India that gives aftersales service to its customers in a professional way. Aftersales service includes ultrasonic cleaning, air flow calibration, repairing of damaged reeds, changing Mechanical tolerances such as length,
