Turkey surpasses China

According to the data published by US Department of Agriculture (USDA), by importing 83.4 thousand bales of cotton from US last year between 12-19 December, Turkey passed China which is known as largest importer of cotton. In that period, while 221,6 million bales of cotton sales was being performed in US, 43.4 thousand bales of it was imported by China. Likewise, the cotton import from US in 19-26 December week, 28,2 thousand bales from Turkey and 22,7 thousand bales from China. So, by importing 111,6 thousand bales of cotton from US during 12-26 December, Turkey, has left behind China which has imported 66,1 thousand bales of cotton in the same period. In the cotton sector, where US is no.1 exporter, the largest importers are known as China, Turkey, Mexico, Vietnam and Indonesia.
