In a bid to strengthen indigenous
production through the state and attract investors, the nodal agency for
investment promotion and facilitation for the Government of Tamil Nadu –
Guidance has signed up for Techtextil India 2021 – the leading international
trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens.

It is agreed that the Tamil Nadu government
is going to promote technical textile policies using physical and virtual
segments. This will allow the investors to set up integrated facilities.
Techtextil India 2021 is going to reunite the industry so that they can present
a strong showcase of technical textile technologies which is important for the
development of India in segments like healthcare, construction, agriculture,
sports, apparel, etc. The exhibition is expected to hold from 25 – 27 November
2021 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai.

The government of Tamil Nadu will also
promote textile policies and will highlight investment prospects at the
exhibition. According to Pooja Kulkarni, IAS MD & CEO, Guidance Tamil Nadu,
there are many advantages for the growth of technical textiles in the state as
many raw materials that are used in the production of seat belt webbings,
airbags, sanitary products, and artificial ligaments are imported. So,
Techtextil India Forum can help in reducing the import dependency and bring
investments in R&D, innovations, and manufacturing. She added that the
strength of the state lies in build-tech, agro-tech, medi-tech, and indu-tech.
The automobile ecosystem here well is developed to attract high-value,
high-technology Mobiltech investment. She also said that the Tiruppur region of
the state provides immense opportunities for Meditech investments.

As per Raj Manek, Executive Director and
Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd said that he is glad to join
hands with Guidance Tamil Nadu. He feels that the support of a state partner
will have a significant influence on the development of the technical textile
sector when it comes to manufacturing collaborations and localisation in the
country.

According to the statistics, the Indian
market for technical textiles is has shown three times as
compared to the global growth.
