Prof Seshadri Ramkumar of Texas Tech University presented his thoughts on “Future of Higher Education” at the event organised by National College – which has eminent alumni such as former President of India, R Venkatraman.

Prof Seshadri Ramkumar of Texas Tech University spoke on “Future of Higher Education” at an event organised by Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu) based National College on July 22, 2022. About 300 people attended the event. National College is focused on research excellence and faculty, staff and students are enthusiastic about research.

“National College has eminent alumni such as former President of India, Shri R Venkatraman. Many alumni of this college are well settled abroad and in India, making the college proud. The college was founded in 1919 and is 103 year old, but young! Interesting research projects are happening in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and the Department of biotechnology. This visit has given me an opportunity to collaborate with faculty in these departments to look at sport textiles, antimicrobial functional finish efficacies,” said Prof Seshadri Ramkumar.

Researchers in the College are working on chitosan, which is a natural material which has potential for many new projects in advanced textiles. Textile sector can benefit from interactions with hidden gems like National College, Tiruchirappali, added Prof Ramkumar.
