More than 200 textile weaving units will be set up in the newly developed Bardoli-II Industrial Estate in Miyawadi village of Bardoli zone of Surat district in Gujarat, according to top officials of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). Several micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will make investments to the tune of rs 200 crore there.
The estate is 48 km from Surat, India’s biggest man-made fabric manufacturing hub.
The weaving units will install power looms, jacquard-fitted looms, and rapier looms, according to a report in a top Indian English-language daily.
The units will manufacture 2 lakh metres of fabric daily when fully operational. More than 35 per cent of these units are owned by women and will employ women. The hub is likely to generate direct employment for 5,000.
