Textile printing – a process of applying colour to fabric in definite pattern and design – is used to make attractive design and defined pattern. Wooden blocks, stencils, engraved plates or rollers are used to apply color on the fabric. Textile printing is bifurcated into direct printing, discharge printing (white and colour discharge) and resist painting (white and color resist). This is one of the most important process in the textile processing to enhance value of the final product. “Printing is a low-cost process but highly value additive process from design perspective. It is the most versatile technique to add designs / colours to all type of the fabrics which is not possible to achieve through weaving alone. Printed fabrics are always in high demand for fashion wear, sportswear and in the home textiles category. As a textile manufacturer, the focus is on ensuring a shorter turnaround time from the design concept to printing the fabric as it helps in better inventory management for the end customers,” opines Prashant Agrawal, Managing Director at BRFL Textiles Pvt Ltd (BTPL).

The textile printing is evolving fast in terms of all the three components – material, mechanical & managerial. The commercial information and data about the segmental potential, scope & growth is provided by various market surveys & available in public domain. The various factors including growing urbanisation, increasing pattern of non-formal wear & changing fashion trends is expected to lead this growth stimulus.
