The shifting of polluting textile dyeing and printing mills outside the city limits could be a reality with the state government approving specified shifting zones for the industrial units with the addition of few provisions in the General Development Control Regulation (GDCR).

Saurabh Patel, Finance Minister, has announced in Budget 2015-16 that the Government of Gujarat will impose five per cent tax on technical textiles. The proposal to impose tax on technical textiles will bring additional tax revenue of approximately Rs 80 crore, Patel said.
Gujarat, through its focused policy on textile industry, will emerge as the country´s textile hub in the next five years offering business and employment opportunity, Saurabh Patel State Finance Minister said.
