Hohenstein has completed the development of its new method for analysing microfibre shedding from textiles. Using dynamic image analysis, the method quantifies shedding behaviour and reveals previously unattainable data with practical implications for material development throughout the supply chain.

Hohenstein’s new 4D body scanner will be used in a series of research projects. Each project aims to advance knowledge and processes throughout the apparel industry.

The certificate for the Baden-Württemberg support programme ECOfit was presented to Hohenstein and four other certified companies in June this year at the Ludwigsburg District Administration Offices.

Following its recent recognition by the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme as a partnering wastewater testing laboratory, Hohenstein now offers customers the security of ZDHC-compliant manufacturing.

As an accredited test laboratory with over 1,000 staff worldwide, Hohenstein belongs to one of 18 institutes run by the OEKO-Tex® company and specialises in testing for toxic substances in textile products and textile components.

Heightened consumer awareness, industry initiatives such as ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) or the Greenpeace Detox campaign: they all pose new challenges for brands, retailers and manufacturers.
