Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar laid the foundation stone for apparel and garment making centre in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, and hoped the centre will be the beginning of setting up of an organised industry in the state.

The Ministry of Textiles (MoT) has launched Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) in the year 2005 to provide the industry with state-of-the-art world-class infrastructure facilities for setting up of the textile units. The scheme provides 40 per cent of the project cost subject to a ceiling of Rs 40 crore for establishing the park. About 70 textile parks have been benefited out the scheme.
