Textile Exchange (TE) will work alongside bluesign technologies in the delivery of back-to-back conferences in the city of Milan which will focus on sustainable textile and apparel production.

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP), which provides quick estimates of the performance of key industrial sectors, started resurrecting upward movement during FY2015-16. As per IIP, the industrial sector broadly comprises of mining, manufacturing and electricity. In FY2015-16, IIP growth of T&C was bracing and it outstripped the growth of overall manufacturing and general IIP.

Globalisation still dominates apparel production and it is highly unlikely that reshoring or backshoring will bring back many jobs that were lost via offshoring, says the International Apparel Federation IAF President, Han Bekke.

Global apparel production in the second quarter increased 1.9 per cent, but was outpaced by global textile production, which grew 3.8 per cent.
