Customers can now shop Surats man-made fabrics, including polyester sarees and dress materials, through ecommerce as about 10,000 wholesale traders from the citys textile markets have registered themselves on Surat Textile Directory, developed by the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTTA). FOSTTA has developed the online directory-cum-website for marketing and promotion of Surats fabrics, made from man-made fibres (MMF), throughout the country. According to FOSTTA, an association of textile processing units of Surat textile market, there are about 60,000 firms and 160 textile markets associated with FOSTTA.The daily turnover of the citys textile wholesale traders is estimated to be more than Rs 1 billion. The websitesurattextiledirectory.com enlists details of textile traders and their specialty, for eg, sarees, dress materials, home furnishings, etc.

The online platform enables customers throughout India to select products of their choice from a wide range of materials. In addition to wider choice, customers would also get price advantage as most of the traders registered on the website are wholesalers, and their prices would be lower than the those offered by retail stores.
