The Textiles Ministry is positively working on the proposals for a Centre of Excellence (CoE) and a mega textile park at Surat, a hub for the man-made fabric industry in Gujarat. The proposal was sent by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) to the Ministry for establishing a centre to conduct research and development of MMF fabrics.
The SGCCI has submitted a proposal for allocation of 80 lakh sq m of land for the mega textile park for establishing textile processing plants. As for CoE, it will help the MMF sector develop and manufacture different varieties of fabrics that have potential in the domestic as well as the international markets.
