SDC stresses smart solutions in processing

A half-day seminar, held at Boisar, Maharashtra on 10 January 2015, was focused on finding practical solutions to current problems (including environmental issues) of Boisar and the surrounding cluster.

A half-day seminar, held at Boisar, Maharashtra on 10 January 2015, was focused on finding practical solutions to current problems (including environmental issues) of Boisar and the surrounding cluster.
The Society of Dyers and Colourists Education Charity (SDC EC), India organized a half day seminar on 10 January, 2015. It was held at Silent Hills Resort, Boisar, Maharashtra. The theme of the seminar was ´Smart Solutions in Textile Processing´.

This event was the first in the series of the events planned by the SDC EC in 2015. It was well attended, with over 110 delegates. It was a proud moment for SDC India as it was the first event in this area focused to cater to the Boisar-Tarapur region. The programme began with a welcome address by VR Sai Ganesh, Hon. Chairman, Mumbai Chapter, SDC EC. The inauguration of the seminar was done with lighting of the lamp by dignitaries from the industry ´ Keynote speaker Dr AN Saligram of BRFL; Chief Guest Sandeep Ostwal of Welspun Syntex Limited; Guest of Honor Baik Dae Joon of Mudra Lifestyle; and Nilesh Kulkarni (BRFL).

The keynote address by Dr AN Saligram, General Manager´Technical, BRFL, set the mood of the seminar for the need of smart solutions in textile processing, by way of resource management to conserve and effective utilization of our natural resources. Delegates also used this opportunity to ask further questions to Dr Saligram to learn more from his experience.

Yogesh Gaikwad, Business Manager, ASEAN Region, SDC, introduced SDC and its activities in India to the audience. He also gave glimpses of events done by the SDC EC in the recent past in India. He explained the silent benefits of being an SDC member. Details of training programmes being offered by SDC were also given to participants. Delegates shown a keen interest in the colour-related training programme and learnt about the enrolment procedure. He also announced the date for SDC EC´s upcoming 11th International Conference to be held on 20 February, 2015 in The Lalit, Mumbai.

The first technical lecture by Deepak Karade and Murlidhar Phatak of ATE Enterprises. They touched upon various new developments in machinery from spinning to dyeing, which will help the cause of the effective utilization of our natural resources.

Second technical presentation by Aishwarya Bhasin, MS Orange Technologies Pvt Ltd, elaborated the concept of digital printing, taking the audience closer to the new technology.

Sumit Gupta, Hon. Secretary, Mumbai Chapter, SDC EC informed the participants about the programme and speakers of the upcoming 11th SDC International Conference, scheduled to be held on 20 February, 2015 in Mumbai. He also informed the delegates that the early bird discount has been extended up to 31 January, 2015 so that more participants can take the benefit. Many delegates submitted their registration form for international conference after the event to SDC staff.

The seminar was concluded with a ´Vote of Thanks´ by Hon. Secretary, Sumit Gupta. Seminar was followed by networking dinner. Delegates continued interaction with speakers and other participants over dinner.
