As a member of the Swiss Textile Machinery Association, Saurer gave visitors the opportunity to learn about the company and to gain an overview of its spinning and embroidery offerings at ITME AFRICA. At the exhibition, visitors learnt more about Saurer’s extensive spinning offerings, which enable customers to process a wide range of fibres depending on their needs using ring-, worsted- and compact- or rotor-spinning technologies. Autoairo, the group’s new double-sided air-spinning machine, was also introduced to prospective clients.

Further, Saurer provided customers from the region with information on Epoca 7, its shuttle embroidery machine. Developed with over 150 years’ experience, this technology enables embroidery plant owners to embellish fabrics to their clients’ specifications, creating an array of designs ranging from traditional to haute couture. Additional attachments for the application of cords, ribbons and sequins as well as for laser-cutting patterns further broaden the variety of possible creations.

Autoairo

Each individual spinning position in the Autoairo spins independently: with tried-and-tested DigiPiecing. For more than ten years, digital piecing technology has been increasing the productivity of successful spinning mills in almost one million spinning positions. With SynchroPiecing 24, the Autoairo performs up to 24 piecing processes simultaneously. The piecing capacity is twice as high as with conventional machines. The spinning position continues production immediately after yarn breaks instead of waiting for central piecing units. Efficiency is boosted and new technological applications become possible.

The Autoairo reaches its productivity peak faster than other air spinning machines. Twenty-four simultaneous piecing processes shorten the run-up time by at least 30 per cent.

The Autoairo requires 40 per cent less space than machines designed to operate with one side. This means more productivity per square meter. The profitability of existing spaces is increased. Investors can plan spinning mills in a more compact and flexible way. Construction times are shortened. Construction costs are reduced. Operating costs, for example for air conditioning, are lower. Investments pay for themselves faster.

Thanks to MultiLot, the Autoairo is the only air spinning machine capable of spinning four lots at the same time. PilotSpin reserves up to 12 spinning positions for test spinning, while production continues at the remaining spinning positions. The Autoairo masters smooth lot changes at the full production rate. This eliminates the need to take downtime into account in lot planning.

The Autoairo communicates efficiently with personnel via an innovative LED light strip with memorable colour symbols. Poorly running spinning positions and empty cans are signalled promptly. The operator can react quickly and directly.

Epoca 7

The Epoca 7 impresses with its increase in productivity of up to 20 per cent and its embroidery speed of up to 700 RPM. The setting options are unique and encompass new technologies on the needle side such as the manual Pentamat control and the thread delivery. Thus, embroidery technology has been reinvented and fulfils future market demands. The new thread monitors and the precision thread-cut guarantee trouble-free production of high quality embroidery.

It is 20 years, since Saurer first presented the active delivery of the embroidery yarn on an embroidery machine. In order to meet the demands of the current embroidery industry, we have further improved and perfected this unique thread delivery. It is thanks to solid bearing surfaces and a very robust construction that the new thread delivery works perfectly, even under the most extreme conditions. The system is complemented by the newly developed Pentafeed. The new lateral guiding of the thread guarantees best quality even with the most delicate yarns. Threading is fast and simple because of the straight thread path.
