Saurer CEO presented the award to BK Goenka for having over 20,000 Volkmann Two-For-One spindles installed in their two plants in Vapi and Anjar.

At a special ceremony on September 29 at the St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai, Saurer’s Golden Spindle Award was handed over to BK Goenka, Chairman of Welspun Group. Wolfgang Leupers, CEO of Saurer Technologies, presented this prestigious award to Goenka for having over 20,000 Volkmann Two-For-One spindles installed in their two plants in Vapi and Anjar.

Leupers emphasised that Welspun is one of the biggest manufacturers of home textiles in the world, which started buying Volkmann twisting machines for their requirement of high-quality terry towels in 1993.

He pointed out that including the most recent addition of 39 twisting machines, the total number of installed spindles of Volkmann Two-for-One Twisting machines amounts to 20,160. These spindles not only represent machines for processing cotton fibres, but also a large number of Volkmann Cabling and Twisting machines for carpet and rug production.

Goenka, in his address to the special gathering on the occasion, pointed out that he believes that investment in machinery of the best quality will ensure a top quality product level for his international buyers and top brands. The long-standing partnership with Saurer Group and especially Volkmann is based on the trust built over the years, in innovative top-class technology, machine quality, and service, according to Goenka.

Gerd Poehlmann, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing of Saurer Twisting Solutions, then gave details of the various models of Two-For-One Twisters supplied to Welspun during the past 20 years.

He explained how the state-of-the-art technology and yarn geometry of Volkmann Two-for-One Twisters help to meet the quality requirements needed for the terry towel business. He pointed out that the latest Volkmann Two-for-One Twisters run at top speed with lowest power consumption, due to the special energy-saving spindle and pot design.

The event was closed by a get-together of senior management and technical personnel of both the companies: an occasion for getting to know each other better, and making the future business of both companies even more successful.
