Raymond wins Energy Conservation Award 2013 for Vapi Plant

Raymond Limited – the leading manufacturer, marketer and retailer of worsted suiting fabrics over the last eight decades – was awarded the 2nd Prize in the prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards 2013. This is in recognition of the energy conservation programme undertaken by its state-of-the-art Vapi manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The award was presented by the Honble President of India – Pranab Mukherjee to Raymond Limited in the presence of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Honble Minister of State for the Ministry of Power.

Harish Chatterjee, Vice-President – Manufacturing, Textile Division at Raymond Limited received this award on behalf of the company at an award function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This function was attended by Industry, Government and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) representatives.

Raymond won this award by reducing its specific consumption of Electrical Energy and Thermal Energy as compared to last year by 6.74 and 7.74 per cent respectively. The Raymond Vapi manufacturing plant achieved a commendable feat of saving of 30.23 lakh units of Electrical energy and 5649.10 Million Kcal of Thermal Energy in the last one year.

Commenting on this occasion, Harish Chatterjee, Vice-President – Manufacturing, Textile Division at Raymond Limited said, "We are honoured to receive this prestigious award as it recognises our efforts towards a responsible corporate citizen. This is our first award for Raymond Vapi manufacturing plant and we would like to thank The Ministry of Power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency, who have recognised our efforts towards conserving energy. We have always been committed towards energy conservation and continue to make efforts in implementing innovative ideas to conserve energy. This prestigious award is yet another testimony of our commitment towards energy conservation for our country."

Raymond has received this prestigious award six times in the past decade for their other manufacturing facilities located at Chhindwara – Madhya Pradesh, Jalgaon – Maharashtra and Thane. Being the market leaders in the industry, Raymond strives to implement innovative ideas and industry best practices across all its manufacturing facilities in the country.
