Ludhiana

The move of the Punjab State Power
Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) to exempt the Amritsar textile industry from the
ongoing power cuts has been questioned by other industry bodies in Ludhiana.

The textile
industry in Amritsar considered as a ‘Continuous Process Industry’ has been
exempted from the mandatory weekly. This partial behaviour of the government
and PSPCL has been questioned by the Federation of Industrial & Commercial
Organisation (FICO).  According to KK
Seth, Chairman, and Rajeev Jain, general secretary, FICO, the federation fail
to understand this biased approach on the end of the government. The federation
has also questioned the reason for this exemption.

As per Gurmeet
Singh Kular, President, FICO, thousands of industrial units belongs to Ludhiana
that belongs to different sectors. All these units are neglected and the
textile industry in Amritsar is allowed to operate.
