The Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani has asked the Textile Commissioner to get a detailed feedback on issues faced by powerloom sector, including yarn price fluctuation, anti-dumping duty on PTA and yarn and dumping of undervalued Chinese fabric and submit a report.

A delegation of powerloom weavers from the city, including Dhirubhai Shah, Managing Director of Fairdeal Filaments; Ashish Gujarati, President of Pandesara Weavers Association and Devesh Patel, President of Katargam Weavers Association, raised these issues and also that of reduction of subsidy in Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF) scheme from 30 per cent to 10 per cent.
