Researchers at the Department of Chemistry in Calicut University in Kerala have come up with a new approach to ‘size’ and ‘desize’ cotton and polyester yarns through a dry process using liquid and super critical carbon dioxide (scCO2).

Functional cotton that have comfort and properties of synthetic fibres are being developed. Cotton shirts that may need no iron, protection characteristics and enhanced comfort are some of the functional properties that are being engineered to make cotton a high-performance fibre.

The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) signed an MoU with the MSME and textiles department of West Bengal government for supporting and facilitating alternate sources of funding through equity among the small and medium sector enterprises.
