Helsinki,
Finland

Valmet will
supply drying technology to Spinnova and Suzano’s textile fibre factory, a
$26.89 million facility being set up to produce SPINNOVA fibre.  The production of the fibre creates 0% waste
or side streams, 0% microplastics and has minimal CO2 emissions and water use.
The factory is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

As per the
Spinnova-Suzano joint venture, Spinnova is the exclusive technology provider
while Suzano ensures the supply of the needed raw material—certified
micro-fibrillated cellulose (MFC).

Spinnova chose
Valmet as a technology partner to globally support its scaling plans and
provide the drying technology for its first commercial production line. Valmet
will supply drying machines with high-technology air dryers, usually utilised
in paper and board making and cellulose-based textile fibre production.

The order value
was not disclosed but it will be included in the second quarter of 2021 under
Valmet’s orders received.

Valmet is a
leading developer and supplier of process technologies, automation and services
for pulp, paper and energy industries. Spinnova has developed breakthrough
technologies for
making
textile fibre out of wood
or waste such as textile or food waste
without using harmful chemicals. Suzano is the world’s leading eucalyptus pulp
producer and one of Latin America’s largest paper producers.
