India extends ADD on yarn from China & Thailand

The Indian government extended the anti-dumping duty (ADD) till December 31, 2020, on imports of fully oriented yarn or fully drawn, flat yarn of polyester (FDY) or spin drawn yarn, from Thailand and China, as per notification issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

Initially imposed in the month of October 2015 when the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) uncovered that the imports were harming the domestic industry. The duty was then extended till November 30, last month, and now has been extended further by a month. FDY is generally used in making shoe upper fabrics, luggage/bag and curtain fabrics.

The Board added that DGTR, the designated authority, after conducting a review of the same that was initiated in April 2020, had sought for continuation of ADD.

“The designated authority has requested for further extension of the antidumping duty on the subject goods originating in or exported from the subject countries,” the notification added.
