The Confederation of Indian Industries
(CII) has come up with some set of recommendations for the government which
ranged from implementing an urban job guarantee policy to coming up with ways
to strengthen the supply chain of MSME firms.

CII said that there is a need to allocate
more funds to rural job guarantee schemes so that the growing demand for the
EPF subsidy can be easily accommodated. It also asked the government to shift
its focus to labour-intensive sectors that include logistics and e-commerce by
coming up with some employment-boosting policies.

The body also said that MSMEs contribute to
30% of the GDP of the country, which means that these enterprises play an
important role in employment and job generation across the country. The body
suggested that the government should look at the relaxation of complex
procedures and compliance that are linked with the hiring and engagement of
apprentices. It should also come up with incentives and exemptions for every
new job that MSMEs generate.

Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman & Senior
Managing Director, DCM Shriram Ltd, shared some recommendations when a session
on “Job Creation & Entrepreneurship – Way Ahead
for Livelihood Generation” was conducted.

The body clarified that the main idea
behind Urban Employment Guarantee Programme (UEG) is that the ruling party is
guaranteeing work to the people at minimum wage.
