Kornit 2023 Tel Aviv FAC Fashion Week opened with meaningful and exciting gala

Event included 27 fashion shows created by leading fashion designers alongside young industry newcomers.

Initiated by entrepreneur and iconic fashion producer Motty Reif, and being held for the 12th time, Kornit 2023 Tel Aviv FAC (Fashion Agenda Community) Fashion Week presented the new and comprehensive FAC – Fashion Agenda Community – concept by Reif highlighting the importance of sustainability, diversity, equality, and inclusion in fashion.

The 27 fashion shows highlighted collections from leading fashion designers who joined forces to celebrate human spirit and beauty in fashion while promoting the new FAC concept. FAC combines the world of fashion with the promotion of current social issues ranging from recycling and sustainability to fascinating issues of women’s’ health.

Many collections were made possible by Kornit’s on-demand digital fashion and textile production solutions that are reshaping the future of fashion. Designers leveraged the power of digital fashion production to unlock their imaginations and inject new life into vibrant collections – with fascinating designs and creations developed in just weeks, not months – as is typical of more traditional production processes.

The festive gala event opened with choreographer Galit Liss’s Blue Zone – a dance performance by an ensemble of women (aged 65-80) exploring the experience of aging through the body and movement. The performance was followed by a lifetime achievement award conferred by First Lady Michal Herzog to fashion designer Hagar Alembik (67) for “Alembika,” noting 35 years of Israeli creation, recognizing her status as one of Israel’s most successful fashion designers and its leading and largest fashion exporter. Hagar began her career in 1988 upon completing studies at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art. From the start, Alembik created a language of her own, which defined and continues to define her designs today.

Two extraordinary fashion shows took place at the gala event

The first on the runway was Kornit Digital’s, where attendees experienced a powerful and meaningful show incorporating the bold creativity of 15 designers, all inspired by the values of democracy, tolerance, equality, pluralism, and self-expression. Collections were produced digitally with Kornit’s sustainable on-demand technology.

Presenters on the runway included Tel Aviv-Yafo’s Mayor Ron Huldai, wearing the design of Segal Fashion; Lihi Lapid, the wife of former Israeli Prime Minister and opposition leader Yair Lapid who wore a “Journey” dress designed by 12 fashion designers into one collection representing unity; Chairperson of Meretz Political Party Zehava Galon with the design of David Wexler; musicians, artists, and celebrities including Ivri Lider with the design of Aviad Herman; Maya Wertheimer in Adi Karni; Ruti Rudner in Shachar Avnet; Israeli musician Omer Adam’s mother Sharon Adam in Shlomi Dadon; Yuval Caspit in Omer Michaeli; actor Yara Zreik in Naim Kassim; actor Samar Qupty in Shadi; Moran Zer Katzenstein in Lior Schwartzman; Motty Reif in Hannah Manks; Tallin Abu Hana, Elia Noff, and Nataly Dadon in Yaniv Persi; and Libby Nachimovsky in Leah Shneor.

Next on the runway was a fashion show led by Eden Fines, presenting designs by top fashion designer Alon Livne. The collection illustrated a post-apocalyptic world built out of the chaos from which a new order is born. This collection included 34 ensembles ranging from tailored jackets, pants, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns representing Livne’s unique signature of geometric shapes, asymmetry, and a sophisticated look with complex, innovative, and unique models.

In his opening speech, Ronen Samuel, CEO, Kornit Digital, said, “The collaboration with Motty Reif and Tel Aviv Fashion Week is first and foremost based on our shared values of fashion as a powerful medium to express what we believe in – from transforming the restricted and exclusionary ideal of beauty in favor of diversity and inclusion, and the creation of sustainable alternatives in the fashion industry.

“Fashion is the platform that we choose to promote ‘Tikkun Olam.’ It is the ultimate platform for self-expression where we proudly and boldly present who we are.”
