ITTA organises a symposium on medical textiles

The Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) has organised a symposium on ‘Medical Textiles: Applications & Opportunities’ on July 14, 2015 at MCA Banquets, Mumbai Cricket Association, Mumbai.

Medical textiles, also known as healthcare textiles, are one of the fastest growing segments among all technical textile categories. The total market size of medical textiles is expected to grow from Rs 3,322 crore in 2012-13 to Rs 4,283 crore by 2015-16 at a compounded annual growth rate of 15 per cent. The market can grow further if more awareness is created in the healthcare industry about the features of innovative products, cost efficiency and other benefits.
To create awareness to the delegates on the advanced medical textiles applications, the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA), an only association of the technical textile industry in the country, has organised a symposium on â€˜Medical Textiles: Applications & Opportunities’ on July 14, 2015 at MCA Banquets, Mumbai Cricket Association, MumbaiThe symposium is supported by the Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and jointly organised with the the Centre of Excellence for Medical Textiles, SITRA.
The delegates from both medical textiles manufacturing and healthcare industry will be benefited from the proceedings of the symposium. This will enhance their knowledge base and initiate the process of product development which would eventually lead to emergence of opportunities for increased use of medical textiles.
Eminent speakers from Ahlstrom, Reliance, Welspun, DRDO, Thomson Research Associates, SITRA, SCTIMST Trivandrum, Surgicotfab, Archroma, Hitex Healthcare, Nanavati and other hospitals, are invited to make presentations on various topics of interest to the industry. These topics include, users’ perspective, needs and standards; artificial implants; advanced wound care; and infection control.
ITTA membership represents the entire technical textile value chain from raw material to finished goods producers, machinery manufacturers, converters, centres of excellence and R&D institutes. At present ITTA has over 260 members. The objective of the ITTA is to promote, support, develop and increase production & export of technical textile to make India a power house of technical textiles in the days to come.
