Industrial Products Finder (IPF) hosted the first-ever IPF Industrial Excellence Awards on December 1, 2016 during the WIN India expo. Organised by ASAPP Info Global Group, the award recognised and felicitated the Fastest Growing Manufacturing Companies as well as ‘Products that Meet the Standards of Product Excellence’.
The winners for Product Excellence in various categoriesâ€â€Electrical & Electronic Equipment, Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Material Handling, Test & Measuring Instruments, Machine Tools, MRO & Consumables, and Special Mentionâ€â€were selected based on nominations received, after careful scrutiny by an eminent jury panel including B Seshnath, Managing Director & CEO, Walvoil Fluid Power India; KP Shetty, Assistant Vice-President, Wirtgen India; Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India; Ashok Bhardwaj, Director, JSW Steel; Girish VS, Executive Director, Institute of Supply Chain Management; and Dr KC Mittal, President & Head, Indian Vacuum Society & BARC. The winners for Fastest Growing Manufacturing Companies were selected based on financial performance over the past three years.
“The IPF Industrial Excellence Awards, co-located at WIN India, are a real milestone as far as IPF is concerned, and marks the beginning of the new thrust we are lending to the sector,†says Pratap Padode, Managing Director, ASAPP Info Global Group. “Micro, small and medium enterprises form the backbone of India’s industrial landscape. There are 15 million units employing about 120 million people directly and indirectlyâ€â€the largest job provider in the country. They contribute 8 per cent to the GDP and a share of 45 per cent of all manufactured output and 40 per cent of all exports.â€Â
Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour RV Pandit, Founder, IPF, said, “Forty-six years ago, while travelling for work in New York, I came across a copy of Thomas Register, a well-known US publication at a newsstand. The magazine attracted my attention as I browsed through its pages as there was no editorial of any sort but just industrial product information from cover to cover. That’s when I decided that India’s nascent industry needed a publication of this kind; thus, IPF was conceived and launched in October 1972 as a monthly publication in India.â€Â
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest RB Gupte, Director, MSME Development Institute, said, “Many of my colleagues have used the information published in IPF in the course of their consultancy and service to the industry. IPF has now entered the realm of talent search by introducing awards in different categories.â€Â
Summing up, Padode said, “In 2017, this event will grow in scale and we are also likely to see it grow regionally in different formats.â€Â
