The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has raised India’s cotton export forecast in April 2016 on account of increased demand form Pakistan. India’s exports are boosted 250,000 bales to 5.8 million on strong demand, especially from Pakistan, USDA said in its latest report. “Strong textile exports, especially of apparel and bed wear, have forced Pakistan’s textile sector to look to imported cotton, especially from India, to make up for a significantly smaller crop,†according to the report.
For 2015-16, world production is lowered, mostly due to smaller crops in West Africa. Consumption is raised, as higher consumption in Pakistan and China is partially offset by lower consumption in Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Turkey. Trade is virtually unchanged. Source: Commodity Online.
Meanwhile, India’s blended spun yarns export value was up 4.9 per cent YoY in February 2016 while volumes rose 9.7 per cent as compared to the same month last year. 6.4 million kg of PC yarns was exported from India during the month. Polyester cottons yarns were exported to 57 countries in February 2016, of which, Bangladesh and Egypt were the largest importers of PC yarn from India followed by Morocco. Argentina, Pakistan, Indonesia and Poland were the fastest growing markets for PC yarns while Chile significantly reduced its import of PC yarns from India.
In February, PV yarns were exported to 37 countries from India with volumes at 4.7 million kgs. Turkey continued to be the largest importer of PV yarns from India with 67 per cent share of the total volume exported from India during the month. Peru, Yemen, Bangladesh and Portugal were the fastest growing markets for PV yarns while Honduras and Dominican Republic were the new major markets in February. Twelve countries did not import any PV yarn during the month, including the major ones like Brazil, Chile and Djibouti.
