Leading trade fair draws senior buyers amid volatile markets

Heimtextil 2026 strengthened its position as the world’s leading trade fair for home and contract textiles by attracting a higher share of top-level decision-makers and reaffirming its relevance in a volatile global market environment. With participation from 148 nations, the event brought together around 3,000 exhibitors and more than 48,000 buyers in Frankfurt, underlining industry confidence in the platform despite geopolitical tensions and shifting trade dynamics.

Held under the theme “Lead the Change”, Heimtextil 2026 showcased current collections, innovative materials and textile solutions for holistic interior design. The fair highlighted evolving market dynamics, artificial intelligence and new business opportunities, with a strong focus on progressive design, functional textiles and emerging hospitality concepts. A clear sense of stability and long-term partnership resonated across the exhibition halls.

Internationality remained a defining strength of Heimtextil. Exhibitors represented 96 per cent international participation, covering the entire textile value chain, with the top exhibitor countries including China, India, Pakistan, Türkiye, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. On the visitor side, international participation reached 86 per cent, with notable growth from markets such as the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland and Peru. Significantly, the share of top-level decision-makers rose to 78 per cent, reinforcing Heimtextil’s role as a key platform for strategic sourcing, networking and market exploration. Senior executives from global brands including Harrods, IKEA, Marriott Hotels, Sainsbury’s and XXXLutz were among the attendees.

Heimtextil 2026 also strengthened its role as a global hub for interior design and hospitality solutions. Curated trend presentations, design installations and project-focused programmes highlighted the growing importance of functional and contract textiles. Artificial intelligence emerged as a key business enabler, with practical applications showcased through the “Texpertise Focus AI” initiative, demonstrating how AI can enhance design, workflows and customer engagement.

By combining market orientation, innovation and high-quality networking, Heimtextil 2026 reaffirmed its position as a reliable and indispensable partner for the global textile industry navigating an increasingly complex market landscape.
