Clean and sustainable trade speak to support a better way of growing, processing and selling clothes have put a spotlight on the textile value chain. To make textiles sustainable the India Report Series highlight perspectives on the challenges on the transformation.

Major textile industries are not eco-friendly, but the trend is changing. As over a billion people are employed globally, by making textile industries eco-friendly, billions of people will be benefited, globally.

In the next five years, all technologies will be diverted to be green. This will be addressed to avert our planet´s crisis. According to Earth Pledge, a non-profit organization (NPO), at least 8,000 chemicals are used to turn raw materials into textiles. This causes irreversible damage to people and the environment. Sustainability may appear to be a simple step of going back to more natural inputs at the farm level but for the industry it means a huge clean up act.

Indian textile processing segment have to be committed to ever greater levels of achievement in environmental excellence, employee safety, product quality, growth and bettering the human condition.

They have to focus on the EHS Standards as the foundation of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) excellence in our business and strive for continuous improvement toward the goal of no accidents, injuries or harm to the environment.

We have to be committed to conserving resources and acting as responsible stewards for the environment. We are aware that our actions today will determine the kind of world we leave our children.
