Dr Karnik pens book on pigments

Dr Ashok B Karnik has penned as book on essentials of pigments. The book is titled, “Essentials of Pigments – Application & Selection”. This handbook for pigments incorporates the latest information of pigments and practitioners who depend on it as a working tool.

New pigments explore the recent trends and updates of this convenient volume provides formulators with hundreds of pigments that will save formulators’ valuable time and effort. The book is designed as the reference book for the users intending to incorporate the pigments in their formulations. Attempt has been made to highlight various aspects of pigments influencing the performance in the end product related to the pigments.

Speaking on the book, Ashwin Dani, Vice Chairman, Asian Paints Limited, said, “Dr Karnik’s rich experience and in-depth knowledge in this field is reflected in the discussion of various chapters wherein he has compiled the most pertinent information in a lucid and comprehensive manner keeping in mind the practical requirements of end users. This book can be a good start for the beginners who are willing to make career in paint, printing ink, plastic, textile industry and would also benefit practicing professionals consultants, teachers, researchers concerned with pigments.”

The book will be useful for paint, printing inks, polymer master-batch, and pigment manufacturers, pigment R&D, and pigment marketing, students of dyestuff, paint, printing ink, and polymer technology and related fields where pigments are used and also for purchase personnel. Contents of the book include important properties of the pigments and surface treatment of the pigments; parameters of the pigments and their influence on the application properties; the pigmentation technology and various techniques involved for the variation of pigment properties starting from the raw-materials through the various stages of the manufacturing up to the final shipping stage. Important test methods used in paints, printing inks applications are covered along with test methods for characterisation of pigments.
