To attract higher foreign investment in the textile sector, India has planned a complete overhaul of a scheme to create world-class infrastructure facilities for setting up textile units.

Ashwin Chandran, Chairman, The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) has thanked the Duty Drawback Committee and the Government for considering the inputs given by the textiles and clothing industry and enhancing the rates marginally across the value chain.

Free trade agreements (FTAs) with Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union (EU) will help boost India’s textile exports, according to the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), whose chairman A Sakthivel recently said the government should pursue FTAs with these countries as they hold tremendous potential for India’s exports.
