The ITMF Annual Conference 2014 will be held in Beijing, China from October 16-18 hosted by the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC). The general theme of the conference ¨Shared Responsibility Shared Opportunity¨ indicates that the global textile industry cannot be looked at and analysed in an isolated manner. Approximately 400 participants from around the world will attend.

With an aim to grab one-fifth of the global textile business and increase exports to $300 billion in the next decade, the Government proposes to rejig labour laws, make special efforts to attract foreign investment and enter new markets with high export potential, such as Japan, China, Brazil and Russia.

Santosh Kumar Gangwar, India´s Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Textiles, has urged rural women to promote sericulture for increasing silk production in the country. Speaking at the inaugural session of a national workshop on ¨Empowering Women Through Sericulture¨.

Orders of textile machinery for the second quarter of the year showed an increase, thanks to demand from foreign markets. Raffaella Carabelli, President of ACIMIT, said: ¨Good results from abroad, but we´re still concerned about poor domestic demand.

US demand for wipes is expected to expand 3.6 per cent per year through 2018 to $2.9 billion. Improving economic conditions will support increasing demand for wipes used in both consumer and industrial markets. Increased consumer spending will promote the use of higher value, more task-specific wipes in the consumer market.

The Cotton Association of India (CAI), the apex body for India´s cotton sector, will hold a conference, -´COTTON INDIA 2014´ from 24-26 November 2014 at the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel, Mumbai, India. This conference will be attended by a large number of delegates from across the globe especially the Indian subcontinent. Eminent speakers will share their experience and expertise.
