The 6th edition of Techtextil India Symposium, scheduled for September 8-9, 2016 at Holiday Inn, Mumbai, will highlight the prowess of technical textiles and nonwovens sectors across the globe. Several editions of the conference have been held over the past years in Frankfurt, India, Middle East and Russia. In India, the symposium has been the centre of discussions, deliberations and dialogues among the key stakeholders.

The DGFT has notified vide Public Notice No. 67/2015-2020 dated March 30, 2016 that ?Textiles Committee? would also be one of the competent agencies to issue Certificate of Origin (COO) under certain Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)/Preferential Trade Agreement(PTAs) along with the other Authorised Agencies.
The Gujarat government is planning to set up India’s first textile university at Surat, Gujarat with an investment of about Rs 800-900 crore. Construction for the university will start early next year and the university is expected to be operational within the next one-and-a-half years. The aim of the university is to provide all kind of support including technology, R&D, skilled manpower, etc. The university will create a complete eco system for the textile industry in Gujarat and India. It will guide the Government in policy making for the industry.
The Union Ministry of Textiles has notified the rebate of State levies, which were not refunded earlier to the garment exporters, as announced in the special package for garment sector. The rebate shall be given under the Scheme for rebate of State levies on export of garments in 2016. The scheme will come into effect from September 20, 2016 and will remain in operation for a period of three years.
ColorJet Group, one of the largest manufacturers of digital printers in India, displayed a live demonstration of direct to fabric digital textile printer VASTRAJET at Gartex 2016, which was held in New Delhi from August 27-29.
The state-of-the-art and efficiently engineered VASTRAJET printer is a commercial grade entry level digital textile printer, which meets the normal daily requirements of a textile printing house, while being suitable for a variety of fabrics like cotton, silk, wool, polyester and their blends, including stretchable and normal fabrics.

The Chhattisgarh Government is planning to develop a ‘green’ textile park with world-class eco system, for which the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) has identified a 30-hectare land at Village Khapri, in Raipur district. The project will comprise elaborate solid waste management practices, treated water supply system, storm water management, rain water harvesting and common effluent treatment plant. The proposed textile park is aimed at providing one-stop integrated facilities with manufacturing support, welfare and common infrastructure facilities to the prospective textile industries.
