The eight-day training programmeâ€â€Cotton Classing & Testingâ€â€that took place in Bremen, Germany from May 9-16, was delivered by industry experts from ICA Bremen, and the Bremen Fibre Institute (FIBRE). The training concentrated purely on quality issues in raw cotton.
Following the training, ICA Bremen course speaker, Karsten Froese, said: “This year we had a smaller group which made the training even more intensive. We were proud to be able to ensure that particular attention was paid to individual needs, which was much appreciated. The diverse backgrounds of the delegates enabled an excellent exchange of information, from production to processing of raw cotton. We are delighted that delegates felt welcome at Bremen – their enthusiasm was evident as they couldn’t stop talking about the content of the lessons each day!â€Â
One of the delegates who benefited from the training said: “Learned to pull staples and about different cottons from around the world. Knowledge exchange through discussions with other participants – excellent overview!â€Â
The training incorporated a wide range of modules – from the classification of cotton from various growths to practical HVI training on the latest Uster 1000 and Premier ART2 machines. It also included a trip to a local warehouse and a welcome meal sponsored by SGS.
The next ‘Cotton Classing & Testing’ training programme will take place in 2018 – the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
