It is with great sadness that the Textile Institute announces the death of its World President Dr Peter Dinsdale CText FTI. Peter passed away at the age of 69 on Sunday 10 August 2014 in hospital, where he had recently begun treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The news was a great shock to his many friends and colleagues at the Institute and around the world. His passing is an immense loss to The Textile Institute and the textile industry as a whole. In May 2014, Dr Dinsdale was asked to serve an exceptional third year as World President by the Council and Members of The Textile Institute, a challenge he relished and which began with successful visits to India and Indonesia to attend Indo Intertex 2014 and assist with the revitalisation of the local Section.

The Chairman of The Textile Institute Helen Rowe CompTI CText FTI, stated: ´His legacy will be one of rejuvenation, of expanding interest in the work of the TI throughout the textile world and of increasing our contacts across the globe. He will be sorely missed´.
